Our Rating:
Annual Fee Interest Rate Balance Transfer Cash Advance Credit Score Good: -- I've had a credit card, or loan for 6+ years. I've had good credit for the last 7 years (no bankruptcies or no defaults on credit as a result of failing to pay debts back to creditors). I haven't opened a new credit card account, loan, or line of credit in the last nine months. I've made the minimum payments on my existing credit cards for the past three months. Rewards Are all rewards created equal? -- From points, to miles, to cash back - how do you know how much you're really getting? To help you find the best rewards card, we've created the Your Reward Return, a rate that lets you know the rate of return from your spending into rewards so that you can compare like for like. Now that's wise thinking!

RateSupermarket.ca's Review

When you're paying a $110 annual fee, you should expect more from a credit card like the ScotiaGold Passport® VISA card. Unfortunately, this travel card doesn't exactly stack up to other options on the market. Granted, the offering is competitive in some ways - 1 Scotia Reward point for every $1 spent on the card (anywhere!), 5,000 bonus points (which pales in comparison to other bonus programs), and 5% cash back on travel purchased through the Scotia Rewards Travel Service.

On top of these benefits, cardholders are covered under an array of insurance products, including travel emergency medical insurance, travel accident insurance, rental car collision insurance, trip cancellation/interruption insurance, and more. In fact, booking a two week vacation with the ScotiaGold Passport® VISA card could end up saving you around $600 once you factor in savings on insurance, 5% cash back on the booking, and rental car deals.

But, as much as the ScotiaGold Passport® VISA card has to offer, there's no denying the fact that there are stronger travel credit card offers out there.
